Shirley Erena Murray

New Zealand lyricist Shirley Erena Murray writes hymns that have found their way in songbooks across geographical and denominational boundaries. "Her hymns and carols address a wide spectrum of themes ranging from the seasons of the Church year to human rights, care of creation, women's concerns and above all, peace." While a connection to creation is woven through most of her lyrics, some of her most ecologically focused songs include:

  • Christ is alive, and the universe must celebrate

  • Creation sings! And we are the music

  • I Am Your Mother

  • On This Good Earth

  • We Are the Household That Gathers Round Jesus

  • The Garden of the World
